The Nigerian Hotel & Catering Institute successfully conducted the annual conference for Hotel & Catering Industry Professionals across Nigeria. This event was held at the Etal Hotels and Halls Kudirat Abiola way Oregun Ikeja, 15th – 18th. November with the theme: Hospitality & Tourism Industry in the new normal, strategies for sustainability.
Participants treated and discussed topical issues as relates to the new normal in their operations with the ravaging Covid phenomenon towards fashioning out strategies for sustenance. Papers were delivered by Eminent Scholars with major contributions from the Participants. Issues discussed include Environment, Service, Finance, Onboarding technology & Security as it affects the industry under the weight of Covid 19 variants.
To conclude the program was the 15th AGM where elaborate reports were rendered on the activities of the Institute and its survivability in the light of current issues. Worthy of note is the report on the role of the Institute in fulfilling the mandate of the local content policy of the Federal Government thereby registering corporate members into their hall of membership. To crown it all, the change in Leadership was affected seeing the erstwhile President Mrs. Bolanle Dada FNHCI handing over the mantle to the first Vice President in the person of Alhaji Oluwagbenga Dau’ud Sunmonu, a seasoned Fellow of the Institute and immediate past FTAN Coordinator for Lagos State.
The program had in attendance The Head of Service & Honourable Commissioner for Tourism Arts & Culture, Lagos State, the General Manager, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, Commander, Nigerian Army Corps of Supply & Transport- NACS&T, President & Chairman Board of Trustee- Federation of Tourism Association of Nigeria & host of other important dignitaries who delivered very instructive addresses. In the end, decisive plans of action were set for the next Conference & AGM and all is now set for the new Team to set sail. The year 2022 Conference has been zoned to Kaduna State.
